Anniversary brochure 50 years of Elektror, 1974

The 1970s were characterized by significant developments and expansions at Elektror. These brought the company forward in terms of both its infrastructure and its product range. Not only were pioneering series such as the medium-pressure series RD, the high-pressure series HRD and the conveying blowers series FD introduced, but efforts were also made to further expand series production capacities.

High-pressure fan: Type HRD 1/2 - 1/5
Medium pressure fan: Type RD 1

To this end, the company invested in the modernization of the existing sand foundry in Mühlacker at an early stage in 1970 and significantly expanded its production capacity in 1974 by setting up its own die-casting foundry on the existing factory premises in Waghäusel.

In 1974, Elektror received a major order from an up-and-coming customer in southern Germany who was focusing on the development of plastic injection molding machines. The order for 1,000 side channel blowers per year was placed by the owner siblings in handwriting on a napkin. Then as now, they relied on Elektror’s expertise in the development of high-quality ventilation products. This event was the starting signal for another important product line: the side channel blower.

1984 was characterized by the expansion of the core competence impeller. The aim was to translate the aerodynamic findings into a modern manufacturing process for the construction of highly efficient series impellers. To this end, a machine park specially designed to Elektror’s specifications was installed. With this perfection of the wobble riveting process, Elektror was now able to produce high quality wheels in large quantities.

The new aluminum sand foundry in Mühlacker

The construction of the new aluminum sand foundry in Mühlacker begins in 1989. One of the most modern aluminum sand foundries in the world at the time was built on the outskirts of the city. The production program included aluminium castings for fan construction, the electrical industry, mechanical engineering and similar branches of industry. The new building has increased production capacity to between 100 and 120 tons per month.
